2) Anna Sweet
Debunking the physics of the Millenium Falcon
We will be going over the very basic fundamentals on how the Millennium Falcon’s space light logistics are very off. The sections include Hyperdrive, atmosphere re-entry, and quick maneuvers in space. DEBUNKED!
Bio: Anna is currently active duty with the USSF here in Colorado Springs! She has completed her CCAF (community college of the airforce) Associates and has just started her journey toward her degree in Engineering with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Although born in Texas, she’s lived there on and off. She’s lived overseas for a very long time (almost all of middle and high school) and has only recently moved back from the UK (her first duty assignment)!
3) Dr Lynanne George
Space Bioastronautics – Pooping in Space – a history
What is Space Bioastronautics? This field includes the study of the biological, behavioral, and medical aspects governing humans and other living organisms in a space flight environment; and includes design of payloads, spacecraft habitats, and life support systems. In this talk, we will focus more on the practical aspects of living in space. We will start with an overview of the free-fall environment’s effects on the human body and then take a historical look at events that got us to the modern-day facilities used on the ISS.
Bio: Dr. Lynnane George is a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering professor at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) and Webster University. She earned her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and later went on to get her PhD there, specializing in robotics. She currently teaches classes on electronics, mechanical engineering, and space systems. Lynnane also served in the US Air Force for 20 years, earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During her time in the Air Force, she worked on launch vehicles and satellite systems, including the Titan IV expendable launch vehicle and the Cassini mission to Saturn. She also taught as an Associate Professor in the Department of Astronautics at the US Air Force Academy for eight years. Since retiring from the military, Dr. George has remained active in engineering education and outreach.
