Celebrate Colorado Springs 150 Years

Colorado photographer Mike Pach of 3 Peaks Photography will talk about his “then and now” photography project, which is designed to celebrate the Colorado Springs sesquicentennial and educate the public about the history of the area. Mike replicated photos from the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, the Pikes Peak Library District and other archives in his own way while showcasing people who are doing amazing things in our community. The project has the backing of the mayor’s office and was recognized by Colorado Springs City Council on January 28, 2020 through an official proclamation.

Bio: Mike Pach was born in Chicago in 1967. He moved to St. Louis in 1989 after earning a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Parks College of St. Louis University. He fell in love with the mountains and photography on his first visit to Colorado in 1984 during a five-day backpacking trip with a borrowed camera. He spent two summers in college working as a backcountry guide for Meet the Wilderness, the same organization that hosted his backpacking trip. Mike moved to Pueblo in 1996 to fulfill his dream of living in Colorado and then moved to Colorado Springs in 2002. He started his first photography-related business in 2000 and opened 3 Peaks Photography & Design in 2009. Mike is an award-winning, internationally recognized photographer and speaker known for his 365-day project “Same Tree, Different Day.” He founded and leads the Colorado Photography Learning Group.
